Hopetoun Park Playground on Walls Street in central Geelong is best known for its big red train with a carriage and two steering wheels — a hit with toddlers and imaginative little ones. Older kids can tackle the adventure structure with its wave slide, flying fox, chain bridge, fireman’s pole and stepping stones, while a separate junior area offers a slide, shop front and abacus for the smallest visitors. Recently upgraded, it is a handy free stop for families, with picnic tables and seating close to the city.
