Steampacket Gardens is a large grassy waterfront park on Eastern Beach Road in central Geelong, right on the water with sweeping views across Corio Bay. Its star attraction for little ones is the heritage carousel with 36 hand-painted horses and two chariots set to a 19th-century fairground organ, and theres also a childrens train ride, the famous painted Baywalk bollards, and an easy stroll to the beach, playground, art-deco sea baths and cafes. With open lawns and regular markets, it is a relaxed, free spot for a Geelong family day out by the bay.
