The Carousel on the Geelong Waterfront houses an extremely rare 1892 Armitage Herschell carousel — one of only around 200 still operating worldwide — with 36 hand-restored horses and two chariots inside a heritage pavilion at 1 Eastern Beach Road. Shipped from New York and lovingly restored by the City of Greater Geelong before reopening in 2000, it is a magical, gentle ride that delights toddlers and young children. Entry to the pavilion is free year-round, with rides costing a few dollars each, making it an affordable treat. Pair it with a stroll along the waterfront and nearby playgrounds for an easy outing with little ones.
